Note:

The configuration item referred to in this article was introduced in version 3.5.0 of the Ephox Editors for IBM Connections package. This article is not applicable to previous versions.

Java 6 incompatible

Note that Java 6 can not support link validation as it can not communicate with modern servers using the https protocol. Attempting to use link validation with Java 6 will result in many links being erroneously marked as invalid.

As IC5.5 only supports Java 6 we strongly recommend disabling link validation if you are using IC5.5. Alternatively you can install the textbox.io services on a different server running Java 7+ and customize the service location.

The Textbox.io Services package contains a link validation service that enhances the functionality of the Textbox.io editor in IBM Connections.

Link validation using this service is enabled by default, but can be disabled via an integration configuration setting.  Disabling link validation will cause the Textbox.io editor to give no warnings about broken or invalid links.  The steps for for enabling / disabling the link validation are outlined below:

New deployments:

To disable link validation:

  1. In the <directory with uncompressed installation files>/config/config.js file, set "linkValidationEnabled" to 'false'.
  2. Restart the 'Common' enterprise application.

To re-enable link validation:

  1. In the <directory with uncompressed installation files>/config/config.js file, set "linkValidationEnabled" to 'true'.
  2. Restart the 'Common' enterprise application.

Existing deployments:

Follow the instructions located at: Changing Customizations after Deployment to change the configuration on existing deployments, using the values listed above.
